Many bloggers share a ballpark figure of how much they make, tips on affiliates that generate the most income, how to comment, improve traffic and a host of other blogging tips that will peak your interest in blogging. What many bloggers don’t or won’t tell you is the aspects of blogging that pose the greatest challenges.

So here is my own list of challenges bloggers face that may change your view on whether or not to become a blogger.

  1. Blogging is writing
  2. You will run out of things to talk about
  3. You will experience writer’s block
  4. You will require inspiration and motivation
  5. You will grow tired of your topic
  6. Blogging is not as easy as it sounds
  7. Blogging can be very time consuming, many bloggers invest 12-16 hours a day
  8. Blogging can be addictive
  9. If you blog for money, your blog is a business and Uncle Sam will take a special interest in how much you make
  10. You must possess a competitive spirit
  11. You must be better than many of your competitors
  12. Many around you will never understand what it is you do
  13. You must be honest at all times, even if it hurts
  14. Comments can be very hurtful
  15. It’s easy to become emotionally charged
  16. You must learn to grow a thick skin
  17. It is easy to become distracted for hours, even days
  18. You must learn an intense level of discipline
  19. Just because something can be said, doesn’t always mean it should
  20. You must be organized

I’ve lost longtime relationships over blogging because some people never learned to control their own emotions. Blogging is about opinions and views. When it comes to many topics, there is no real right or wrong – but there are many people who will try to convince you there is.

As long as you believe everyone is entitled to their opinion, regardless of whether you agree or disagree – you should be fine.
